A little bit about me:
I grew up in Brookfield Wisconsin (suburb of Milwaukee) in a large family, I am the second oldest of 6 kids! I headed to St. Louis MO for college at Saint Louis University. Blake and I met in college and we got married on SLU's campus 2 years ago.  We have enjoyed living in Kirksville and are excited to stay for the next two years for rotations.  I teach full day pre-school at the Early Childhood Learning Center and I love it! I enjoy running, reading, eating anything with chocolate, cheering on Notre Dame football, and hanging out with friends.

Also - the picture is from the corn maze we did last fall right outside of Columbia...you should all check it out next fall! It is so fun!

If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be?

Ireland, for sure! I am 100% Irish and besides my youngest brother (and he is only 13) I am the only one in my family who has not been!!

If you could eat at any restaurant for your birthday what would it be?

You are all going to laugh BUT it would be Panera! I love love love Panera (or Bead Co as it is call in St. Louis) and its one thing I miss a lot living here in Kville!

Best birthday memory?
It was not on my actual birthday, but as a gift for my 10th birthday I got to go to the American Girl Place in Chicago with my Mom,  best friend Jackie and her Mom for both of our birthdays (hers is in April too).  We took the train from Milwaukee to Chicago (so fun!) and spent the day shopping for our dolls, seeing the American Girl Show, getting an American Girl Magazine cover picture with our dolls,eating lunch with our dolls, and having so much fun!

What was the Best Job you've ever had?

Burger King swing shift. College. 2002. I would ride my bike to work at 5pm and at 3am ride my bike back to my apartment. I ate my dinner on the curb outside the building and watch the sunset behind the mountains. I worked with a skinny high school boy and a fluffy, grouchy, 40-something lady. I enjoyed most of my summer there until one tragic day someone had the nerve to steal my bike! You know what they say "no bike. no ride." So I quit. I will never eat at Burger King again, and neither should you! :)

Carlos Bakery In New Jersey. (ever seen Cake Boss) uhhhh.....don't all those bakery treats sounds so delish?

-Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I got my Associates degree at BYU-Idaho in general studies/English. I met Lane there as well. For me, it was love at first sight. It took longer for him to come around…but really not long at all. You’d make fun of me for how fast our dating process actually was. We got married in May 2010 and had Ella in July (4^th of July actually..neat huh?) 2011. I am planning on getting my bachelors in ...haven’t officially narrowed it down yet.

I love being a wife and a mother. I love family. I miss being away from my fam but it’s been such a great experience to move away from home with my babe and husband. I’m kind of an independent person but I love being around people. I love meeting people and really getting to know them. I think that’s something I’m most passionate about—being surrounded by good people and really learning from them. I love being outside. I love learning and trying new things (experimenting), but usually I am no pro…just excited to give things a try. It’s easy for me to get excited about the littlest things. I’m kind of a kid. 


*what is one of your worst embarrassing moments?

I shared this with a few girlies a few days ago..and for some reason that’s giving me some justification. I hope I don’t regret this…but I want you to laugh and enjoy an embarrassing story. So here goes. Ok so before I share this let me just tell you that the 2^nd-to-last time I wet the bed I was probably in kindergarten. Now, the last time?? Lane and I had been married for only a couple months and we knew each other pretty well..but we never slept together before we got married so that’s what makes it embarrassing. It was the middle of the night and I was having a dream. Dream: I was trying to get to the bathroom fast so I could go. I sat down and told myself, “Something feels weird. I don’t think I should go..no, just go. You’re on the toilet.” So I went…but not just in my dream. I wet the bed. Yes, soaked the sheets. I had to explain to Lane that “I promise I don’t wet the bed.” It was hilarious. But I don’t think Lane was the one laughing.

*Who is your favorite musical group/band/singer?

I love jazz music. I really like old jazzy singers like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald. And I love the newer artists like Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Colbe Caillat, Michael Buble, Nora Jones, Adele, Christina Perri, Ingrid Michaelson, Amos Lee…the list is endless. I cannot give you a short answer.

*If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be?

Right now? An amusement park with Lane. We would have a blast. After we do that? Maybe Europe.

*What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

I can talk backwards phonetically.

-Tell us a little bit about yourself:

Graduated from UVU with my bachelors degree and then got married. Karl and I are coming up on our 7th anniversary in April.  We met in high school (some of you may have recently seen our dance picture...) but didn't start dating until 5 years later. Our kids are 3 and 1 (a few days after my birthday). We've been here for 2.5 years while Karl did the Masters in Anatomy Education; but now he's a first year med student.

While Karl pursues his dream, I'm living mine. I LOVE LOVE LOVE being at home to take care of my kids; my world revolves around my family. I've recently taken up sewing and I am having so much fun. I keep coming home with more and more fabric and Karl just laughs. I teach violin; its new for me and hard learning HOW to teach.

To say that I'm a chocoholic is a most significant understatement. I'm a chocolate JUNKIE; its been so bad lately... :) I rummage through the cupboards trying desperately to find some remnant, some crumb that I've previously overlooked. Although I haven't actually eaten Hershey's syrup directly out of the bottle...yet.

We love getting to know people and learning their stories. Life is good and we are so happy!

 

*what is one of your worst embarrassing moments?                                                                                     Besides Junior High and High school? One time I wore a dress to school, my underwear was way too big. As I was walking it slipped right down my legs so I had to bend down and pick it up. Don't worry, this was in Kindergarten.  

 

*if you could eat at any restaurant for your birthday what would it be?                                                       

Cafe Rio... 

*Who is your favorite musical group/band/singer?                                                                                  Somewhere in my mind, Michael Buble and Brandon Flowers are dueling over me. A sweet, sweet, musical duel... 

*What is one thing most people dont know about you?                                                                               When I was little, my picture was on the box of a little girl bike/trike. 

 

*If you could get any gift for your birthday this year what would it be? 

A MINIVAN. No comments you minivan haters. Minivans ROCK. :)

Grew up in St Louis, and moved a few times around there till we ended up in St. Peters MO, when I was in 8th grade. That is where I met Kevin, and our families still live. Two years later we started dating, and 12 years later here we are! He is almost done with his Intern year as a first year general surgery resident! Woot! We will be here till July 2016, then wherever the Navy sends us!

*what is one of your worst embarrassing moments? Kevin and I had a FACS class together in High School, (Family and Consumer Science). One of our projects was to make a pin cushion. At some point, after finishing it, it fell into my seat. Of course not looking, I sit on in.....with pins in it. I stand up and its stuck to my bum. I was also wearing light tan khaki pants that day, and had to walk around with small blood dots on my pants. It was also our first period class....
*if you could eat at any restaurant for your birthday what would it be? Here in Kirksville? The Pear Tree! It's actually where I'm hoping we can go!

Dan is a second year medical student and we will be staying in Kirksville next year for Dan to do an Anatomy Fellowship. I am currently working at Truman State as an instructor of Health Science classes. I love to exercise, sew, and be with Dan.

*If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be?

                  I have been dreaming of a trip to Greece, or Spain, or both!

*What is your favorite movie?

                  Oh geez, ONE of my favorites is Seventeen Again. I just love it.

*If you could get any gift for your birthday this year what would it be?

                  I wouldn't say "No" to medical school tuition being paid for :)

*What was one of your favorite vacations?

                  Dan and I went to a couple of the Samoan Islands after we graduated from undergrad. It was fabulous.
